On September 22, 2024, Attorney Lawrence Wang of the ACIES Team was invited to participate in the Heyuan Commercial Legal Services Month—co-hosted by the Guangdong Lawyers Association and Heyuan Lawyers Association—and delivered a keynote speech titled "Expanding and Handling Cross-Border Intellectual Property Matters" at the accompanying Trademark and Anti-Unfair Competition Legal Practice Training Conference.
During his lecture, Attorney Wang drew on his personal experiences and those of his team to explore why IP lawyers should engage in cross-border practices, how they can build capabilities in this area, and the critical success factors for handling international IP cases. He outlined five actionable points for developing cross-border IP practices, providing practical guidance for lawyers seeking to expand their international service offerings—highlighting the importance of cultural competence, jurisdictional expertise, multilingual advocacy, and strategic client engagement in global IP matters.
